Welcome to SWOF2019. We have a fabulous week of walks, cycling, natural history, snorkelling and regional history in and around Selsey – a lovely West Sussex fishing town on the Manhood peninsula. This year we will be running events in collaboration with the Weald and Downland Museum and the Novium. . .
An opportunity to find out about the wealth of wildlife that Selsey supports. A joint walk hosted by Sarah, Community Wildlife Officer, and Anya, Mulberry Divers, you will be taken from Shore to Sea. A great walk for children and adults but children must be accompanied by an adult. £2. . . .
Explore the East Beach area of Selsey to find out why so many railway carriages arrived here in the 1920s and were later converted into dwellings, identify them today and hear about their history. A leaflet will be provided for those who wish to research this fascinating story further. £3. . . .
Thanks to the pioneering work of Sir Patrick Moore, Selsey has a reputation for astronomy and the Selsey Walking and Outdoor Event is pleased to continue the interest. Dr John Mason MBE , Principal Lecturer at South Downs Planetarium will take us along the shore giving us an expert look. . .
