WEEK 1

The waiting is finally over as the 2021 Festival of Chichester launches with a bang! In a scintillating mix of outdoor, live and virtual events, the festival offers audiences the chance to immerse themselves in fun, culture and entertainment. Join us online for the official launch at 2pm on Saturday 12 June. We have a fantastic first week in store.

Theres drama on the Cathedral lawn as the Lord Chamberlains Men present their take on the Shakespeare classic, Macbeth and there are picnics with Charlie Chaplin as the Rude Mechanical Theatre perform Little Lily Harvey outdoors at Halnaker Park Cottage grounds. You can catch a preview of a new book with Kate Mosse at CFT.

You can sit back and enjoy a concert with the Castalian Quartet at the Assembly Room or thrill to the swell of the organ for a lunchtime concert at the Cathedral.

There are art offerings aplenty including Paint out Masters, an outdoor painting competition at the Cathedral, The Chichester Art Society at the Oxmarket, an Art Tail of studios, a focus on Frida Kahlo and Inspired by Light at the Little Art Gallery at West Wittering.

Theres a great choice of virtual entertainment, kicking off with Celebrating Keats- the Bicentenary, followed by a dramatic poem set to music with The Masks of Anarchy and for three days, beaming from the Vicars Hall, Chichester Free Fringe is livestreaming theatre, comedy, poetry, music, song and lots more. Eyes down for retro bingo with Dawn Gracie!
