Sir Patrick Moore, much loved presenter of the BBC’s Sky at Night programme for over 55 years, was one of the UK’s most famous amateur astronomers. He was also the Founding Patron of the South Downs Planetarium and one of its greatest supporters. In this first part of a two-part webinar, his friends and colleague Dr John Mason talks about Patrick’s early life, his mentors and how he became interested in astronomy.
